Mob justice for child lifter in Vellore

A child lifter, hailing from north India, was nabbed by the alert residents of Rajathoppu village, and was handed over to the police, in Tiruvannamalai district on Wednesday. However, two of the accused’s accomplices managed to escape.

Police said that the three youths had befriended the three-year-old daughter of a local farmer, Suresh. Thereafter, one of them lifted her in his and tried to carry her away from there.

On noticing this, the villagers raised an alarm, following which, the trio took to their heels. The villagers chased them down and nabbed one of the youths, while the other two managed to escape.

The child was rescued and handed over to her father while the nabbed youth was tied to a lamp post and thrashed by the locals.

On information, Kil Pennathur police rushed to the spot and brought the youth to the police station. However, the interrogation was delayed as he could speak only Hindi. A search is on for the other two persons who had managed to escape. A case was registered in this connection and further investigation is on.
