Responding to media persons on queries regarding the opposition parties deciding to join hands together to defeat the BJP in the general elections, Radhakrishnan said, “In the memorial meeting you are supposed to mourn and condole the death of Kalaignar Karunanidhi. By speaking politics and making accusations, the DMK had insulted its own leader. They brought disgrace to Kalaignar.”
“Leaders from all over the country attended the event to mourn the death of Karunanidhi and to pay their homage but the meeting turned into a political meeting of allies,” he said, adding that the DMK men should lower their heads in shame for reducing the meeting to a sham.
Radhakrishnan also said that the memorial function of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was conducted two days before in Chennai. Leaders of all the political parties including Congress participated in the meeting, which was held with high dignity unlike the event for Kalaignar, he added.
