The anniversary of Anitha was observed in her village and leaders of various political parties participated. A library in memory of Anitha was built by the Anitha memorial trust and was inaugurated on Saturday.

“Though we lost Anitha in the war against NEET, we have not lost her spirit. Not only Anitha but also many rural students in the State are affected because NEET was made compulsory for MBBS admission”, Veeramani said. He further said that the High Court raised several queries but the Supreme Court was least bothered about the queries. “Protests against NEET will conclude only when the examination is scrapped”, Veeramani said and added that the protests in future will be led by the student community.

CPI State secretary R Mutharasan recalled that government officials promised the students that the state would be exempted from NEET once they returned from Delhi and people believed them. “But we only ended up losing a doctor (Anitha). The police should have filed a case against Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for instigating Anitha to commit suicide,” Mutharasan said.

Meanwhile, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan said that Anitha chose to study medicine to serve the people but her dreams were shattered. “By implementing NEET, the Centre has encouraged private parties and we all should fight together so that the government withdraws NEET,” he added.

Anitha scored 1176 marks out of 1200 in Class 12 examination, however, she could not clear NEET.
