The girls had gone to attend a special class on Saturday and did not return home. On Sunday, they were found lying in an unconscious state in a farm at Gobi area.
On information, police rushed to the spot and took the girls to the government hospital for treatment. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the girls had set out on a fun trip to Erode after attending their classes.
“While returning, they were in fear that their parents might scold them for coming late. So they took the extreme step and consumed phenyl,” police said.
They were undergoing treatment under a critical condition and further enquiry is on.
