2,800 take physical test for police, fireman, warder posts

As many as 2,800 candidates from Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts, who cleared the written test, attended the physical examination as part of the combined recruitment drive for the posts of Grade-II Constable, Fireman and Jail Warder, at Nethaji Stadium here on Friday.

The written test was held on March 13 and the results were announced on August 11. On Friday, the certificate verification and physical test was conducted for the first batch of 1000 male candidates.

The Friday exercise was monitored by IG (Prohibition) Sumit Sharan, Vellore range DIG R Vanitha and Vellore SP Pravesh Kumar.

Another batch of 1,000 male candidates will attend the tests on Saturday.

Similarly, 800 women candidates, who cleared the written test, will appear for the physical test and certificate verification on September 10, said police officials. The exercise was being conducted to fill up the existing and new vacancies in the State Police Force, officials added.

During a similar drive in Chennai, on Friday, the physical measurement, fitness and endurance test was conducted at Rajarathinam Stadium, Egmore for those male candidates, who cleared the written test organised by Tamil Nadu Uniformed Service Recruitment Board in March this year.
