“Either the State Congress president or the legislature party leader participate when the DMK organizes all-party meetings at the Anna Arivalayam. We expected DMK president Stalin to depute a senior leader or spokesperson TKS Elangovan for the first all-party meeting held at Sathyamurthy Bhavan after Thirunavukkarasar took over, but they did not,” said Thiyagarajan, during his speech marking the bandh on Monday.
“Even for the Bharat Bandh, they could have deputed the constituency MLA, but they did not. I am not blaming anyone. Congress is a national party. Our leader Rahul Gandhi is challenging the Prime Minister.”
However, he was forced to beat a hasty retreat after the DMK cadre started to express their displeasure over his stance.
Thiyagarajan is the party’s Chennai district president.
