The three arrested persons were produced before Virudhunagar Judicial Magistrate–2, N Thilageshwari. Nirmala Devi along with the two accused were facing detention in an audiotape scandal case, in which the former was reportedly found luring girls to extend sexual favours to top university officials.

Meanwhile, Nirmala Devi had sought protection in her cell in Madurai central prison as she was allegedly facing life threats by some inmates.

Already, the CB-CID had filed a 1,165-page preliminary charge sheet on July 13 this year and a 200-page supplementary charge sheet on September 7 before the Virudhunagar Judicial Magistrate.

Nirmala Devi was arrested on April 16 after the college management lodged a complaint with Aruppukottai Town police. Later, the State government transferred the case to CB-CID for investigation.
