A summon was issued asking Anwar Hussain to appear for questioning at the NIA office, in Race Course, on Thursday. He was quizzed about the details of PFI members and the organisation’s laws and regulations.
“We condemn the murder of Sasi Kumar. However, a major violence erupted during his funeral procession. So I requested the NIA officials to probe into the issue. But the officials did not reply anything,” he said to media after coming out of the NIA office.
Sasi Kumar was hacked to death by a four-member gang at Subramaniyampalayam on September 22, 2016. The NIA took over the investigations into the murder case from CB-CID suspecting terror links.
A large number of PFI cadres gathered in front of the NIA office, while the inquiry was underway, triggering tension. Police personnel were deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, Mubarak, one of the accused was arrested in connection with the murder, was released on bail, on Thursday, following an order from High Court. Two others Saddam Hussain and Abudahir were already out on bail, while Zubair is in prison.
Following the court orders, Mubarak was released from the Salem Central Prison.
