Deepa had approached the one-man enquiry commission with the same request but the commission dismissed her plea on July 27. She contends that as one of the blood relatives of Jayalalithaa, she should be allowed to be part of the proceedings.

She had earlier petitioned the commission to be part of its visit to Apollo Hospitals, where they examined the rooms used by Jayalalithaa during her hospitalisation. Deepa was allotted a later slot after the commission’s and Sasikala’s lawyers had completed the visit and she was allowed to visit a few of the rooms that hosted Jayalalithaa.

After the dismissal of her request to be included in the proceedings, Deepa has moved the high court to quash the commission’s dismissal and allowed her counsel G Subramani to assist the enquiry into Jayalalithaa’s death.

The enquiry commission is in its final stages of the probe with the final report due to be submitted on October 24.
