Ellapalayam village near Dharapuram is one among the eight villages adopted by Kamal’s political party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) to be turned into model villages for development in Tamil Nadu.

“We are executing big works in this small village. One lakh trees were planted and an electric crematorium has been set up here. This was done not to woo votes, but it’s our duty,” he told media representatives.

The party representatives have been visiting villages to emphasise the significance of people attending Gram Sabha meetings.

“We are digging out the buried tradition of holding Gram Sabha meetings,” he said.

Earlier, while addressing the villagers, Kamal said that educated youth should shift to villages. “It will happen soon. Development projects should come to villages. It is a good sign that we have joined hands for the cause,” he said.

The actor-politician also visited the ‘Nallathangal Odai’ and had lunch with the local villagers.

During another event, while addressing students at a private college near Dharapuram, Kamal said that politicians who see politics as a business are scared if students understand politics. “So they attempt to disrupt our attempts to reach out to students. Students have the ability to take Tamil Nadu on a progressive path. And the youth have the responsibility to carry forward the thoughts of future,” he said.

Kamal also addressed the public in Palladam and Tirupur city.
