The woman staff had lodged a complaint against the chairman a few days ago following which the all women police station in Thudiyalur issued a community service register (CSR) receipt to her. “But, the woman has given a written statement asking us not to take further action in this regard,” said P Pandiarajan, Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore, adding, “We can’t proceed suo moto in a case if the complainant isn’t seeking action. However, if we get to know that there was some coercion on the part of the college management, we will definitely take action.”
Meanwhile, students of the college resorted to road blockade and vandalised the campus on Thursday after the video clip of the harassment went viral on social media.
Members of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) on Friday approached the Thudiyalur police demanding the arrest of the college chairman.
The Perianaickenpalayam DSP, who held talks with the AIDWA members, told them that as the woman wanted the police to only warn the chairman for his act, they could not do anything.
