Theft accused dies during escape attempt

According to police, few residents spotted a man climbing a drain water pipe from the terrace of a building in Zuzuvadi area, in Krishnagiri district. 

The residents woke up on hearing some unusual sound and also to the barking of the dogs. “As residents raised an alarm, the thief attempted to get down from the pipe, in a hurry to escape from getting caught. However, the PVC pipe broke resulting in a fatal fall,” police added. 

He suffered serious bleeding injuries and died on the spot. On receiving information, the SIPCOT police rushed to the spot and retrieved his body and sent it for post-mortem to Hosur Government Hospital. 

The police said that the exact cause of death would be known after a post-mortem. “If he was lynched or had fallen to death, it will be revealed only after a post-mortem. We are also probing to know the identity of the youth,” added a police officer. 

A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
