‘States must take up linking of rivers’

In his presidential address at a two-day agricultural expo - Kalanjium at the university on Monday, he said that the State had till date spent over Rs 100 crore on lawyers’ fee to fight the Cauvery case in the Supreme Court. Highlighting the need to link all south Indian rivers, he said this could be undertaken by the respective state governments itself with the financial aid from World Bank. 

He said that the youth would understand the plight of agriculture sector at present only if they worked as a farmer at least for one day. 

The chancellor urged farmers to switch over to drip irrigation system and conserve water.

Over 100 stalls explaining the various agricultural practices in addition to facilitation for loans, agricultural inputs and fertilizers formed part of the expo.
