Extra subsidy under Scooter Scheme

The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department had passed an order recently, as per which, the differently-abled women will get additional 25 per cent subsidy, besides the existing subsidy of Rs 25,000 per scooter under Amma Scooter Scheme.

“Additional 25 per cent subsidy amounting to a total subsidy of Rs 31,250 is being provided for retrofitting vehicles for the differently-abled. The additional fund required to meet the expenditure incurred towards the additional subsidy would be around Rs 2.5 crore, for the exchequer,” read the Government Order (GO). 

Amma Scooter Scheme was launched in 2017 to provide Rs 25,000 subsidy for working women to buy two-wheelers. The scheme envisioned to provide 1 lakh scooters and under the scheme, 4 per cent of it was reserved for differently-abled women. Thus, 4,000 differently-abled women will receive the additional subsidy.

New e-procurement facility

CM Edappadi K Palaniswami through video conferencing on Wednesday inaugurated an e-procurement facility for paddy. According to the facility, there will be one point of sale instrument at the direct procurement centres, which will be connected to tablets and printers.

In total, 2,100 tablets and printers were procured for the e-procurement facility along with the required software. With it implementation, farmers will receive cash directly to their bank accounts immediately after paddy was procured by the government. 

The total cost of the project was Rs 7.6 crore and was implemented by TN Civil Supplies Department. 

The CM also inaugurated 10 hostel buildings, additional school buildings and laboratories, constructed by Adi Dravidar Welfare Department. The hostel buildings were constructed in Athoor in Salem, Neeravi in Ramanathapuram, Maramadakki and Keeranur in Pudukottai, Semakottai in Cuddalore, Kallooranikadu in Thanjavur, Sivaganga, Polambakkam in Kancheepuram, Kallakottai in Pudukottai, and Elavanasoorkottai in Villupuram. 

He also inaugurated a centre of excellence in the MIT campus in Chennai, built at a cost of Rs 546.84 crore. It was constructed in public-private partnership with Siemens and Designtech, and the share of the state government in the project was Rs 54.68 crore. It will provide world class technical education to the students and will increase their employability status.
