Private tanker lorries stay off road

Private water players of three districts decided to stay off  road, demanding to remove ground water from the list of organic resources. Owing to the strike of 4500 private water carriers, there is huge threat of serious water crises.

Chennai relies on private water players in order to meet its need, and the strike will adversely affect people and many commercial entity.  

While addressing the media, Minister SP Velumani stated that people could fetch water by paying to Chennai Metropolitan water supply. 

He further added that he had ordered metro water officials to provide water for hospitals, commercial entity, educational institution, IT parks, and mutli-storey apartments.

Chennai metropolitan water pumping station will be operating from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am and water could fetched by hired water carriers.
