Anna University to launch faculty training programme

To enhance teaching skills, Anna University has planned to launch a faculty development training programme this year for lecturers and professors in university and those in affiliated engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu.

To enhance teaching skills, Anna University has planned to launch a faculty development training programme this year for lecturers and professors in university and those in affiliated engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu.

The two-week programme will train the faculties to plan and prepare the lessons, understand the subject contents and improve the teaching quality. Sources from the Centre for Faculty Development at Anna University said that these programmes are conducted during winter vacations to enable the teachers to participate in it.

The resource personnel include experienced faculty members from Anna University and experts from the industry. Accordingly, the training programme will be offered as per the Anna University syllabus of BE, B.Tech and B.Arch for all semesters. At least 24 sessions would be conducted with the support of external faculty from Indian Institute of Technology, central and state funded institutions and people from industries, university officials said.

During the training programme, course materials and CDs with comprehensive explanation on the subjects will be distributed to the trainees. Every day there will be five sessions on various subjects related to the current engineering courses. Certificates will be distributed to the faculty members after successful completion of the course.

The university is also planning to conduct specific training programme for faculties in various subjects including artificial intelligence, digital communications and among others.
