Speaking to reporters here, Jayakumar said: ”Even if Rajinikanth enters the electoral fray, he cannot eat into the AIADMK vote share.”

“It is the DMK which fears Rajini entering politics, and that’s the reason its mouthpiece published an article targeting him,” said Jayakumar.

“In the case of Kamal, his Makkal Needhi Maiam will be able to garner less than two per cent of the votes and will fail in electoral politics without getting the public mandate,” he said, claiming the ruling AIADMK is confident of keeping its vote share intact.

Regarding the leaked audio clip which alleges a relationship between him and a woman, the minister said: “The police have booked a case and soon the perpetrators behind the defamatory act will be arrested. There is a group that targets me and a few other political leaders on social media. They will soon be booked as per the law.”
