Heavy rains possible in south Tamil Nadu: Meteorological Department
As the Northeast monsoon picks up, the Chennai Meteorological Department reported that in the next 24 hours there would be heavy rainfall in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu.

The Southwest monsoon ended on the 21st of October and the Northeast monsoon got delayed due to various reasons.
The Northeast monsoon finally began two days ago on the 1st of November which lead to heavy showers heavily on the southern districts of Tamil Nadu including Tuticorin, Madurai and Tirunelveli.
The director of the Chennai Meteorological department, Balachandran while speaking to the media said, "In the next 24 hours, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry would witness moderate rainfall in many places. North Tamil Nadu may experience heavy rainfall in some places. As far as Chennai is concerned it would be mostly cloudy. Occasionally, some parts of the city may witness moderate showers."
In the past 24 hours, Manimuthar of the Tirunelveli district has received the maximum rainfall of 29 centimeters.
