Over 3 lakh commuters used special bus service so far, says MR Vijaya Baskar

State Transport Minister MR Vijayabaskar looked into the special bus arrangements on Sunday and said a total of 3 lakh 22 thousand commuters have used them ahead of Deepavali.

For the ease of commuters, State Transport has arranged 20,567 buses to various parts of Tamil Nadu, especially the southern part. State Transport minister MR Vijaya Baskar visited Koyambedu mofussil bus terminus and looked into the special bus arrangements made ahead of the festive occasion.

While speaking to the reporters, the minister said a total of 3 lakh 22 thousand people commuted through five thousand buses. He further added that the Transport department was expecting more than 3 lakh passengers in upcoming days.

Regarding the regulation of omni bus fare, he said, “We will continue to take strict action against those fleecing the passengers. Though the government has not announced a common fare, bus companies have been instructed to stick to the minimum fare this season.”
