Online exams to be privatised by Tamil Nadu government
In a first of its kind initiative, the Tamil Nadu government has decided to privatise conducting online examinations for the government department in the computer-based mode for selection ti various posts.

Currently, various government departments in Tamil Nadu are in need to recruit suitable personnel against their existing vacancies. The present process of manual recruitment consumes more time.
Accordingly, Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TeGA) will be appointing a private partner for conducting the online tests for candidates. Apart from registration till the recruitment, for the first time, candidates will have the provision to analyse the outcome of the exams immediately.
A senior official from TeGA told DT Next that the private partner will computerise the recruitment process by setting up online application registration, help desk, identification and preparation of exam centres across the state, upload of admit card, examination centre allocation and maintenance of attendance sheet generation with data.
He said in the online registration, candidate will register themselves by creating login in the portal by validating mobile number and email id (with the help of OTP) within the schedule mentioned by the department once notification is done.
In addition, questionnaire generation, capturing biometric data and photograph of candidates at exam centres and recording of examination lab will be done by the appointed organisation.
Similarly, post exam services include generation of exam mark list and shortlisting of candidates according to the reservations and all other quota policies, call letter generation, intimation to the candidates, assistance to provide response to candidates queries and RTI exam analytics services will be done by the selected company.
The online examination process will enable the candidates to analyse outcome of the exam by providing an analytical dashboard provision with an infographic. It will also provide the marks scored by all candidates with success rate by question, chapter and average mark of the exam.
The official also pointed out the new move will also have the option for authorities to critically examine the exam results. “The whole online process will be implemented from January 2019”, he added.
He said the company will also provide manpower for the exam centres. Accordingly, frisking staff, invigilators, security guards, information technology staff and hardware engineers will be deployed by the organisation.
