Two die of swine flu in Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital

There seems to be no let down in the swine flu deaths as one more person, a theatre owner from Tirupur district, succumbed to flu at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

Few days ago, Balu (55), a theatre owner from Boyampalayam in Tirupur district, was down with fever. Later, he was admitted to a private hospital in Coimbatore and was tested positive for Swine flu. Despite undergoing treatment in a special ward, Balu succumbed to the flu on Tuesday night. He was holding the charge as the Secretary of Coimbatore, Tirupur and Nilgiri districts Theatre Owners Association. 

Similarly, Lakshmi (35), wife of Karuppasamy from Palani in Dindigul district was treated for fever in a private hospital in her neighbourhood. She was brought to CMCH for further treatment on November 12. However, her condition deteriorated and she died on Wednesday.

In the last two months, nearly 58 persons died of swine flu, dengue and viral fevers at CMCH. Of the total 121 persons, 36 are undergoing treatment for swine flu, five persons for dengue and 80 persons for viral fever in CMCH. The affected persons are being kept in a special ward and are subjected to round the clock monitoring.
