The police control room received a call on Tuesday to inform that a man was found dead on Pillaiyar Koil Seventh Street in Nerkundram, following which the Koyambedu police recovered the body and sent it to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.

After the autopsy report revealed that the man died due to bleeding in his heart after his ribcage was crushed, a murder case was registered. The deceased was identified as R Ramesh (37) of Anakaputhur, who was working for building contractor G Venkatesh of Nandambakkam. As Venkatesh went missing after the incident, the police launched a hunt for him on suspicion. On Friday, a police team led by inspector Madheswaran arrested him near Manali. During interrogation, Venkatesh confessed to murdering Ramesh.

Police said Ramesh was in a relationship with Venkatesh’s relative, who had two children from her previous marriage. Venkatesh did not like it and asked Ramesh to stop seeing her, which the latter allegedly refused. On Tuesday, during an argument between them, Venkatesh murdered Ramesh and fled the spot.
