Opposition all praise for SDMA work
For the first time political parties in Tamil Nadu came together to commemorate the good work done by the State Disaster Management Authority in reducing the impact of Cyclone Gaja that had ravaged the delta region. MDMK leader Vaiko in a statement demanded early enumeration of the crop and livestock that had perished in Nagapattinam, Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts.

He also urged that the state should provide adequate compensation for the farmers who had lost their paddy and coconut farms. Vaiko also urged the state to stay focused during the monsoon so that the damages due to rain are minimised.
DMDK leader Vijayakanth congratulated the authorities for taking preventive steps. He also expressed sympathies for the bereaving family members and urged the state government to speed up the relief works.
