Referring to the release of three AIADMK cadre involved in the Dharmapuri bus fire incident, Vaiko said: “The AIADMK men were directly involved in the offense but the seven (Rajiv Gandhi case convicts) were not involved in the offence. Already the Supreme Court has clarified that the President and the Governor have the right to take a decision on the issue. Hence, the Governor should have initiated steps to release the seven persons.”

“We have planned to stage a protest in this regard in Chennai on November 25,” he said.

Vaiko also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very keen on foreign trips and does not bother about Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to mediapersons here, the MDMK leader said Gaja has greatly affected agriculture in the delta region and praised the precautionary steps taken by the State Government.

Vaiko, however, asked the government not to criticise the opposition parties for the public-led protests staged in the cyclone hit regions.

“Those affected by the cyclone resorted to a protest only because they did not receive the relief materials,” he claimed.
