“In the past, we have seen that the Union government had not allotted a considerable amount to the state government when it was affected by natural calamities. The same will happen this time too and the central team will return back after assessment and the state will not get anything,” said Anbumani, in Chennai.

He also said that the state government had not learnt anything from the past. “There were many cyclones in the past including Vardah, Thane, Ockhi and now Cyclone Gaja and the state government has not learnt anything from the past. Still the state government is looking for help from the Union government,” Anbumani added. He also said that in the last eight days after Cyclone Gaja, struck Tamil Nadu, the state government had not undertaken considerable amount of welfare measures as still many people in the affected districts had not received essential supplies, he charged. Meanwhile, the party held a general body meeting in Chennai.
