Relief materials given through PDS outlets in Vedaranyam
Cyclone Gaja victims in Vedaranyam region in Nagapattinam are getting the relief commodities through the Public Distribution System outlets under the direct supervision of Forest Minister Dindigul C Sreenivasan, who ensured that the distribution would be complete by Monday.

The Vedaranyam region has been the worst hit and the people are shifted in as many as 105 relief camps. Minister Dindigul Sreenivasan, who visited the people in the camps on Sunday said that they would be distributed 26 commodities including rice, dhal, sooji, tea powder, noodles, biscuits and toiletries, dress materials and drinking water bottles through the PDS outlets in the region. “As many as 10,362 ration card holders would get these materials through 12 PDS outlets,” he said.
He commenced the distribution of commodities from Arukaattuthurai Fishermen Cooperative society outlet and asked the officials to ensure the distribution to all the card holders by Monday.
Meanwhile, he also asked the officials to inspect the relief camps to ensure basic amenities. He also visited the camps in Kumarankadu, Murhtiyankadu, Chinnakadu and Perumalkoil Street and promised the people proper compensation.
