He inaugurated road strengthening works, which took off from Kanimadam to Kanakappapuram under the limits of Anjugramam town panchayat in Kanniyakumari district at an estimated cost of Rs 96.57 lakh through Road Infrastructure Development Fund on Monday.

After the inauguration, he indirectly criticised the Dravidian parties citing that Tamil Nadu should witness governance sans ‘kazhagams’ for a transformational change and also to achieve growth. Every citizen of Tamil Nadu should realise it, he told reporters at Kanakappapuram.

“Unlike other states, political parties in Tamil Nadu were accustomed to forging alliance with one another. Both the ruling AIADMK and its key opposition DMK had never contested polls without aligning with other parties. However, the present scenario in Tamil Nadu has necessitated parties to form alliance and contest polls,” he said.

On Cyclone Gaja, which devastated Delta districts, including Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur, the Minister said a special team constituted by the Uniongovernment took stock of damages caused by the cyclone and submit a report to the Centre for sanctioning relief funds. Moreover, Radhakrishnan said he also spoke with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley regarding the cyclonerelief fund.
