Exchange programme between Tamil Nadu, Andamans

Tamil Nadu government and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, have launched an exchange programme in education with both sides mutually focusing on improving teaching and other educational related activities.

Accordingly, the information on teaching and learning of various languages using Information and Communication Technology, Teacher Education curriculum and syllabus, activities related to evaluation, curriculum and syllabus, framework involved in both regions will be exchanged.


Teachers from Andaman Nicobar Islands will be given training to enhance and evaluate the quality of school education in that region.


A senior official from the Education Department said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tamil Nadu government and the Andaman Nicobar Islands was signed in this regard. The Tamil Nadu State Council for Education Research and Training (SCERT) will also share its study materials in video format to its counterpart in Andaman through its web portal. “In addition, experts from Tamil Nadu will guide Andaman teachers to prepare new curriculum for their students on par with Indian standards,” he added.


Similarly, authorities from District Institute of Education and Training will be sent to Andaman to study teaching method in island region. Exchange tour programmes for students from both sides will be arranged periodically. Official added other programmes include exchanging scientific research doings of students, communication skills in English, image recognition technology, disaster management, preparation of continuous and comprehensive evaluation and recruitment procedures.
