Cops’ liplock inside station lands them in trouble

The video showed both indulging in kissing and related activities and the woman cop shouting at the SSI as soon as another policeman entered the station. Sources said that the incident happened on the night of December 10 when the SSI Balasubramani (52) and the woman constable (32), belonging to the computer section, were on duty.

He was supposed to be on night patrol and he came to the station at around 10.30 pm when the woman constable was alone. She was uploading cases details when SSI reached there.

After initial exchange of pleasantries, he goes near her, starts kissing and hugging her. After sometime, a special branch policeman enters the station. Seeing him, the woman cop starts shouting at the SSI. Sources said that she complained to the special branch policeman that the SSI was molesting her. Based on the initial report, the SSI was placed under suspension.

Now the senior officers, after watching the CCTV footage, have ordered for another inquiry. The video revealed the policewoman showing no resistance when Balasubramani started kissing her. It is not clear if she was afraid of him or he was doing it with her consent.

“We have placed the SSI under suspension immediately,” said the Central Zone Inspector General of Police V Varadaraju to DT Next. Senior officers said that an inquiry in the incident by a committee is under way. Once district Superintendent gets the report, a decision on next course of action will be taken. The woman constable is on medical leave now, an officer noted.
