In an order dated December 21, the city traffic police have asked him to take charge as the in-charge of Ambattur traffic police station.
The inspector pushed the constable off the bike after the latter accused him of not granting leave over a walkie-talkie. Immediately after the incident, the inspector and his subordinate Dharmaraj were placed under suspension. Sources said that suspension of both the police personnel were revoked 10 days ago.
Ravichandran, who was initially posted in the control room, was shifted to traffic wing again on Friday. Dharmaraj is also back in the traffic wing.
Suspended traffic constable Dharmaraj’s wife Devi has also lodged a complaint against inspector Ravichandran with the Abiramapuram police. “But later both the police personnel approached senior officers and withdrew their complaints. However, there will be departmental action based on the inquiry report,” sources added. Sources also noted that there is acute shortage of inspectors in the traffic wing as three inspectors were promoted as assistant commissioners.
