AIADMK, AMMK pay homage to MGR
The AIADMK leaders took a pledge to win the upcoming bypolls to the assembly and the Lok Sabha elections. Party convenor OPS administered the oath in which the cadres vowed to protect the AIADMK.

The rank and file in the ruling AIADMK and the rebel AMMK came together in paying homage to the AIADMK founder and late Chief Minister MG Ramachandran on Monday to mark his 31st death anniversary.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and senior party leaders paid floral tributes at the memorial of MGR on the Marina. AIADMK legislators and party MPs also observed two minutes silence.
The AIADMK leaders took a pledge to win the upcoming bypolls to the assembly and the Lok Sabha elections. Party convenor OPS administered the oath in which the cadres vowed to protect the AIADMK.
Former councillors and party functionaries organised free Anna dhanams and played MGR songs to mark the death anniversary. A few AIADMK party workers also tonsured their head to mark his death anniversary.
“Thirty-one years ago we prayed at Tirupathi for the wellness of MGR. The death of our leader is a mourning period for us, so every year we continue to tonsure, and this is a black day for all the MGR fans,” said Poonga Nagar Selvam of North Chennai MGR Mandram.
