Chinese engineer’s fingers reattached in Kovai
In a complex micro surgery, 25-year-old Chinese engineer, who suffered amputation of his two fingers at Aurangabad, Maharashtra, while installing machinery at a new plant, got his index finger and thumb reattached successfully after 22 hours in a city based hospital.

In a release here on Tuesday, Ganga Hospital, Department of Plastic, Hand, Burns and Micro Surgery Chairman Dr S Raja Sabapathy said, “Gau Rong, a Chinese engineer who came to install machinery at a new plant in Aurgangabad. He specialises in installing machines which make drills.”
“While at work, he met with an accident. His left index finger tip and the thumb tip were totally amputated. He was rushed to a local hospital. The injury being of the nature of avulsion was a challengeto reattach.”
Dr Jiten Kulkarni told that they had the best chances of success if they could make it to Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore. He reached Ganga Hospital on December 18. The plastic surgical team on call led by Dr Hari Venkatramani received the patient and immediately got to work.
Dr Raja Sabapathy said, “All of us felt happy that we were able to live up to the trust of the Aurangabad doctor in recommending them to travel the 1300 km to get the finger reattached.’’
