The youth, who was mentally-challenged, met with an accident on Vellore– Chittoor road and was admitted to a private hospital near Kudibala close to Chittoor.
As the victim was a mentally-challenged person, locals could not get any information about him. Hence, based on a certificate from Vellore CMC hospital about his condition, he was admitted to a private rehabilitation home in Tirupattur.
The youth, who responded to treatment, later managed to identify himself as son of Abdul Lathif and Nasreenbi of Shashakand in Baleshwar district of Odisha. The youth also told the home authorities that his name was Shahul and that he was on his way to Chennai in search of employment. Due to his mental ailment, he had mistakenly landed in Andhra Pradesh.
Based on the information, officials of the rehabilitation home got in touch with the youth’s parents. On Tuesday, Abdul Lathif along with his two other sons came to Tirupattur to meet Shahul.
The youth was then handed over to his parents in the presence of the personnel from the Tirupattur town police station after which the family left for Odisha.
