According to a senior TNSCERT official, EDUSAT programmes, which rely on satellite-based communication technology, will be organised during the next academic year. The programmes, each lasting for three hours, would be conducted for more than 15 days.

All students of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) centres across the State will be exposed to various programmes, which focusses on yoga, child rights, value integrated teaching and learning, life skills and personality development.

Suitable infrastructure has been installed in DIET centres and in district headquarters covering 147 blocks of Tamil Nadu.

“The lectures (visual images and audio signal) are transmitted to the satellite from where they are beamed back to each centre,” he said, adding that opportunities will be given to the students to share their ideas and thoughts to students elsewhere.

The official said interactive sessions will be conducted with teachers and students across the State. “Best practices and content developed by teachers and students are to be shared with all the other blocks and districts,” he said.

Model classes on innovative teaching methodologies will be telecast in the remote centres.

Further, TNSCERT officials will review the functioning of DIET centres and provide suggestions for strengthening and improving their performance.

At present, the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) provides information and training for the benefit of resource persons through EDUSAT.
