Selection of teachers for kindergarten begins
As state government has identified more than 2,000 Anganwadi centres in the state to start LKG and UKG classes from the next academic year, selection of teachers to take kindergarten classes are in the process.

A senior official from the School Education Department said that a circular has been issued to as many as 2,381 Anganwadi centres in the government middle schools to appoint female teachers to take classes for LKG and UKG respectively.
The schools were instructed to submit its report by Monday to the Directorate of School Education for further action. “In addition, infrastructure facilities such as classrooms and equipment with regard to teaching will be provided by each middle school,” the official said.
“Salary of the teachers will be decided as per seniority,” he said adding “if the school could not spare any teachers, the government will take steps to appoint a person through employment exchange.”
According to the official, the government move to start kindergarten classes came to retain the kids till high school. The government will be spending more than Rs 7 crore to start the classes.
Initially, each Anganwadi centre will be given Rs 5,000, which will be used to procure educational kits. The official pointed out that the Tamil Nadu State Council of Educational Research and Training has already prepared a syllabus for pre-school children.
He said the government has constituted a committee, which will conduct a survey to study the feedback from the parents and teachers. “Based on the findings, improvement measures will be taken”, he added.
