Dip in crime rate in Tiruchy after installation of CCTV, says CoP
As a part of making the entire city under CCTV surveillance the process of installing CCTV at various places has been initiated, in which the police department had been successfully reducing the crime rate in city, said Tiruchy City Commissioner A Amalraj here on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, the Commissioner stated that the entire city would be covered under CCTV surveillance, adding, “We have planned to install as many as 2,500 CCTVs among which only 700 had already been installed and with March 1,000 cameras will also be installed in the entire city.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner claimed that, after installation of CCTVs, the crime rate in the city had enormously reduced. Further he said, “Offences like chain snatching, theft, bike theft and other petty cases are reported more comparing with other major offences. But after the installation of CCTV cameras, it is said that it supported to reduce the response time and also to nab the criminal at the earliest.”
Meanwhile, the Commssioner added that the launching of online verification registry system, the waiting time had been reduced for availing the Police Verification Report Certificate for employment purposes.
Availing PVR certificate was a major burden for the job seekers since it was a time consuming procedure. Also, there has a been major allegation of corruption issues in curbing out such issues. Due to this, the Tamil Nadu Police department has introduced a new e-facility of filling and availing PVR certificate through the e-service website of Tamil Nadu police. “This will enable the people and the companies to avail PVR certificate of the individual easily at affordable cost,” he added.
