The party men made a representation stating that the DMK leader was levelling baseless allegations against the CM by dragging his name into the Kodanad murder cases. According to party sources, more AIADMK functionaries and Ministers are to meet the Governor and explain their point of view and the party functionaries are to rake up other mysterious murder cases like that of former DMK minister Krishnan in Madurai and of Sadiq Batcha arrested in connection with 2G scam.

AIADMK leader and Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar on Wednesday said that suspect KV Sayan has been levelling allegations against the CM using driver Kanagaraj’s name, who is no more. Further, the two suspects in the case, Sayan and Valayar Manoj have a criminal background and these allegations should not be taken seriously, he said.

AIADMK deputy convenor KP Munusamy who had also submitted a memorandum at the Governor’s office told reporters that Stalin was playing politics over the Kodanad issue. Realising that DMK cannot win the upcoming Lok Sabha polls Stalin wants to defame the Chief Minister. “We told the Governor that the memorandum (of demands by Stalin presented to him) is for political benefit,” he said. The Governor promised to look into the matter, he added.

“The DMK back then raised an issue over a picture showing the late AIADMK leader with two accused in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, but it later emerged that they were local advocates. Now again Stalin will be proved wrong,” he said.

Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan too alleged that there is a hidden political agenda behind raising the Kodanad issue now.
