Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar on Wednesday took a swipe at theopposition DMK by commenting that the party MLAs were ‘wishing’ for the AIADMK government to remain in power for its full term.
“The DMK MLAs are comfortable and are wishing for the AIADMK to continue in office,”Jayakumar told reporters taking a jibe at the opposition DMK. “We are confident of completing full five years term in the state and this Amma government will continue due to its public welfare schemes.”
The ruling AIADMK is also confident of winning the upcoming Lok Sabha and the vacant Assembly seats. “We are ready for the polls any time and the DMK’s political stunts targeting the Chief Minister and the AIADMK will not yield electoral benefits,” the Minister said.
Poll works have started in all the Lok Sabha seats and the party will win all 40 seats in the state and the AIADMK will be a crucial party in national politics, Jayakumar added.
Meanwhile, the AIADMK also invited all its party functionaries to assemble in Chennai and pay respects to party founder MG Ramachandran on his birth anniversary and take pledge for victory of AIADMK in upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam will pay their respects to the MGR statue at Guindy on Thursday.
Responding to Jayakumar, DMK legislator J Anbhazhagan of Chepauk constituency asked “Is the Minister ready to disclose the names of DMK MLAs who want this government to continue. The days of AIADMK are being counted.”
