A Saravanan, Deputy Commissioner (headquarters) of Greater Chennai Police on Wednesday posted on his Facebook page that he liked the movie as the lead character played by Ajithkumar always wears a helmet while riding a two-wheeler and seatbelt while driving a car.

“Both the hero and the leading lady wore helmets and the lead actor made sure he wore the seat belt even when he was about to rush to rescue his daughter. While Tamil Nadu remains one of the states in which more fatal accidents are reported, I wish lakhs of Ajith fans follow in his footsteps when it comes to adhering to traffic rules. Kudos to actor Ajithkumar, director Siva and Viswasam team,” the official posted.

His post went viral and the film’s production house, Sathyajothi Films, got in touch with the Deputy Commissioner and thanked him for his word of appreciation. When contacted, the official said that he posted the message on Facebook as he felt that both Ajith fans and others should consider it seriously but did not know that it would get such an overwhelming response.

“I have been a Traffic DC in Coimbatore for a while and most of the fatalities were due to the failure of wearing a helmet or seat belt. While the audience usually absorb negative things shown in movies, I felt that these good things should also reach them,” he said.

The officer said that he has received a lot of messages from the public, including Ajith fans who claimed that they have already started wearing helmets after watching the movie and would continue it. “If my post makes few a more people wear helmets, I would be happy,” concluded the officer.
