The trio, identified as Naresh (31) Madhu (33) from Kolar and Sanjay (33) from Hosakotta, a few days ago had driven away a truck loaded with Rs 30 lakh worth house hold items of a popular e-tailer.
According to police, “Peria Karuppu, driver from Madurai had parked the lorry on Pothapuram Bridge at Cauvery Pattinam to have tea. The truck thieves then stole the goods laden vehicle on 18 January.”
The driver who returned after a while, was shocked to find the truck missing. The lorry, owned by Gandhi (45) from Dharmapuri district, was heading to Cochin through Krishnagiri district after loading parcel goods from Bengaluru.
Based on a complaint from Gandhi, the Cauvery Pattinam police registered a case and screened the images recorded in CCTV’s fixed in toll gates.
Police then recovered the container lorry that was found abandoned near Guruvinayanapalli check post on Krishnagiri-Kuppam Road. However, the goods remained untouched in the lorry. With certain clues, a special team of police managed to nab the three persons, who had confessed to the offence.
A search is on to nab one more person, Suresh, who is on the run. Inquires revealed that they were involved in several incidents of truck robberies in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states. Further investigations are on.
