Kodanad heist: Manoj surrenders in Ooty

Manoj Sami, one among the 10 people accused in the 2017 Kodanad heist murder and heist case, surrendered before the district court here on Wednesday.

District court judge P Vadamalai had on February 18 issued an arrest warrant against Sami for not appearing before him in connection with the case on that day. Even as the police continued searching for him, Sami surrendered before the judge who remanded him to judicial custody till March 4.


On April 23, 2017, the security guard of the Kodanad estate -- the late CM Jayalalithaa’s retreat home in Nilgiris district -- was murdered in a robbery attempt by a 10-member gang.


It emerged during the probe that Jayalalithaa’sformer driver C Kanagaraj and Sayan had allegedly plotted the crime.
