CM hands over appointment orders to CRPF martyrs' kin

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday handed over employment orders to widows of two CRPF jawans, who lost their lives in the terrorist attack on a convoy in Pulwama on Feb 14.

Krishnaveni, widow of Subramanian, and Gandimathi, widow of Sivachandiran received the orders from the Chief Minister. The families of both the martyrs were given a solatium of Rs 20 lakh each. It may be pointed out that Palaniswami on February 16 announced that government job one member each from the families of both the martyrs would be given government job based on their educationalqualification.


Among other things during the day, Palaniswami inaugurated the MGR Centenary Arch constructed on Kamaraj Road near the PWD office. The arch was constructed at a cost of Rs 2.52 crore. The announcement to construct the arch was made by the Chief Minister in the Assembly on June 28, 2017, and the foundation stone for it was laid on August23, last year.


The Chief Minister also extended wishes for Muruganandham, ‘Padman of India’, as the documentary movie inspired by his works won the Oscar award. The Chief Minister wished him more success in his life.


He also inaugurated a renovated creche at the Secretariat for the benefit of the employees. The renovated creche will have toys for children, a mini-library with books for children, toilets built specially for children, a breast-feeding centre and a sleeping room for children.


Palaniswami in his inaugural speech said, “The creche was functioning for a long time for the convenience of the Secretariat staff. Responding to requests from the employees to renovate the creche, several infrastructure improvements were made suiting the needs of the kids.”


He also said that a new kitchen has been built along with creche to provide quality food three times a day for the kids aimed at ensuring their good health. “With the inauguration of the renovated creche, secretariat staff can leave their children in the facility and can work peacefully”, said Palaniswami.


Foundation stone laid for new projects:


Palaniswami also laid foundation stone for 12 new projects, which were signed at the second edition of Global Investors Meet (GIM-II). The 12 new projects were worth Rs 14,071 crore and can provide employment for 12,294 persons. Palaniswami also inaugurated Sheng Long Biotech India pvt ltd, setup at Thervoi Kandigai SIPCOT and Kadapakkam, both in Kanchipuram district. The biotech company is setup at the cost of Rs 180 crore and can provide employment to 170 persons.


The new bus stand for Tiruvarur built at an estimated cost of Rs. 13.36 crore was also inaugurated by the Chief Minister via video-conferencing from Chennai on Wednesday.


Following the inauguration by the CM, Collector T Anand lighted Kuthuvilakku at the newly opened bus stand and said that the new facility was created in an area of 11.08 acres and has a built-up space of 5022 square metres. “There are as many as 35 bus bays, concrete floor and 60 shops. Two hotels, one passenger waiting hall, a police control room, a time keeper’s office, a cloak room, two protected drinking water booths, two toilets and a high mast light are part of the new bus,” he added.  The bus stand would benefit around 7,000 passengers on a daily basis. Murugadas, District Revenue officer, Umamaheswari, Commissioner (incharge) of Tiruvarur municipality were among those present.
