Alliances likely to be finalised in a couple of days

With poll dates set to be announced any time now, both the AIADMK and the DMK camp are in hurry to finalise alliances early this week and switch to campaign mode.

The ruling AIADMK is all set to finalise its deal with the DMDK before Prime Minister Modi’s arrival where he is expected to share the dias with all alliance partners at Kilambakkam on Wednesday. 

Sources in the AIADMK camp said that deal with DMDK would be announced following the high-level meeting chaired by Vijayakant on Tuesday. 

Principal Opposition party DMK is also likely clinch the deal with its allies on Monday, sources said. The DMK has invited CPIM for talks on Monday at the former’s headquarters Anna Arivalayam after 10am. Followed by Marxists, the DMK has planned to invite CPI, Vaiko’s MDMK and VCK for seat sharing talks the same day. 

The DMK, sources said, has planned to convince the allies by promising them better representation in the local body polls. Meanwhile, the DMDK leader’s meeting with AISMK’s Sarath Kumar on Sunday has also triggered speculation that he might be lured to the possibility of a third front. Sources said that AMMK could also find a poll partner in the bargain.
