State government urged to revoke transfer of teachers
The Tamil Nadu State Platform for Common School System (TNSPCSS) on Thursday urged the state government for immediate withdrawal of transfer orders issued to the teaching staff of various government colleges and to conduct an inquiry into the allegation of irregularities in appointment of guest lecturers and ensure transparency.

Pointing out that Tamil Nadu Government College Teachers’ Association as a member organisation of JACTO-GEO participated in the indefinite strike, TNSPCSS general secretary P B Prince Gajendra Babu said even when the teachers returned to their duty as per the request of the government, some 15 alone, after a couple of weeks, were transferred and asked to report for duty in other colleges, in some cases where the new institutions were more than 500 km from the previous workspots.
Similarly, the TNSPCSS also urged the State government to order an inquiry into the allegation of irregularity and ensure that really deserving, qualified candidates were appointed in line with the norms and guidelines issued in the order issued by the state government.
Stating that about 3,500 teachers wereserving as guest lecturers in various government colleges across the state, the association urged the government to regularise the service of the guest lecturers as per UGC norms.
Urging the government to conduct a surveyto find out the social composition of the students studying in the 41 university colleges, TNSPCSS saidthese universities should be converted into government institutions.
