Addressing reporters at the party office, Sudhish said, “It is true that I called Duraimurugan 10 days before to discuss alliance, but I did not call him on Wednesday. I do not know why Duraimurugan gave such a statement on me.”
A section of discontented DMDK functionaries met Duraimurugan at his residence in Chennai on Wednesday and their visit created various speculations on the ongoing alliance talks.
After their visit, Duraimurugan informed reporters that they came for alliance talks and Sudhish contacted him over phone to discuss alliance with the DMK.
Duraimurugan’s revelation came as a shock as Sudhish was holding talks with the BJP and the AIADMK at a private hotel in Meenambakkam.
The DMDK holding talks simultaneously with both the alliance did not go well both within the party and also in the social media as the party was criticised for being opportunistic.
However, Sudhish refuted the claims of Duraimurugan that he called him over phone to discuss the alliance. “We (Sudhish and Duraimurugan) both hail from the same district and we are in touch for several years. Under these circumstances I discussed alliance with him when DMK president MK Stalin visited DMDK leader Vijayakant’s house,” said Sudhish.
When asked about the reason for DMDK functionaries meeting Duraimurugan on Wednesday, he replied that they had some personal issues on their part and so they met Duraimurugan. “Politics was not discussed in the meeting,” said Sudhish.
When further questioned about the statement of Duraimurugan that they went for alliance, Sudhish lost his cool and said that no politics was discussed. He also criticised Duraimurugan for discussing about the meeting with reporters and said that they will never reveal anything about important meetings.
“We (DMDK supporters) are trained by Captain and so we will not reveal what was spoken between me and Duraimurugan during the alliance talks, but Duraimurugan coming from the DMK camp was irresponsible,” said Sudhish.
He further said that Duraimurugan had even spoken ill of his party leadership, but I could not reveal such statements. “It will not be good on our part to reveal what Duraimurugan said about their leadership,” said Sudhish.
Sudhish went on to say that DMDK was upset when the AIADMK signed deal with PMK without informing them. “We initially were talking with the BJP for alliance, but the BJP informed us that AIADMK is heading the alliance in the state.
So, we started our talks with the AIADMK but on the very next day they signed the alliance deal with PMK which made us upset as they could also been invited for signing the alliance deal together with the PMK,” said Sudhish.
We also expressed our displeasure with the AIADMK and the BJP, he added.
