MNM to finalise candidates for polls soon

“As many as 1,137 applications were received from party members and social activists. However, the party is yet to decide the candidates,” a party source said, adding that party president Kamal Haasan had invited MNM cadre and social activists, who are not members of the party, to send their applications.

While the major Dravidian parties are yet to finalise their allies and complete the seat sharing talks, Kamal, who had announced that his party would contest alone in the parliamentary hustings is busy holding meetings with various wings of the party. He met with the MNM’s legal wing office-bearers on Sunday. The source added that the party’s election committee is scrutinising the applications and Kamal would conduct an interview with the applicants in 2-3 days.
