The party sources said that the Puducherry constituency has already been allocated to Congress, which is ruling the Union Territory. “Of the other nine constituencies in Tamil Nadu, six constituencies have been finalised. Talks are on for deciding the remaining seats,” party sources said.
The party functionaries attributed the delay to the party high command in Delhi and said that party’s national president Rahul Gandhi has been overseeing the seat selection talks with DMK.
The State level seat-sharing committee would communicate to the leadership the detail about its deliberation with the allies. “As the party president wants to win all the constituencies allocated, he is determined to select the constituencies based on the possibility of victory instead of pacifying the local party leaders. The here committee will talk to the high command before finalising each constituency,” according to the source.
Tamil Nadu will go for polls in the second phase on April 18. The last date of filing nominations is March 26.
