Voting messages on milk sachets, LPG cylinders
The Vellore administration has chalked out an ambitious plan to achieve 100 per cent voting in the ensuing parliamentary elections on April 18, said Collector SA Raman.

It has been planned to conduct a marathon from Nethaji stadium, cycle rallies, release of poll awareness balloons, industrial visits to create awareness about importance of voting among women employees, visit INS Rajali to ensure all personnel exercised their franchise through postal ballot, forming human chains, signature campaigns and interacting with women members of self-help groups.
Raman started the campaign by pasting stickers on ‘100% polling’ on products sold by Vellore Aavin, gas cylinders and lorries entering and leaving the district. Also, round-the-clock election control rooms were opened at the Collectorate and in SP’s office. The administration has set up 39 static surveillance teams and an equal number of flying squads to conduct vehicle checks and supervise transport of money meant for polling. A total of 26 videography teams have been set up to video-record vehicle checks.
Also, 13 teams were formed to oversee candidates’ poll-related expenditure. Their social media accounts are also being monitored.
