Majority of AIADMK candidates to file nominations today

According to the AIADMK sources sitting MP D Jayavardhan is to file his nomination for South Chennai and the party has made elaborate arrangements for his nominations. However, nominations on Thursday were dull and only an independent filed his papers for Perambur bypoll.

Majority of the ruling AIADMK candidates are likely to file their nominations on Friday, considered to be an auspicious day. According to the AIADMK sources sitting MP D Jayavardhan is to file his nomination for South Chennai and the party has made elaborate arrangements for his nominations. However, nominations on Thursday were dull and only an independent filed his papers for Perambur bypoll.

According to Election Commission sources, so far more than 45 candidates across the state have filed their nominations for the Lok Sabha and the 18 vacant assembly seats and the district election officers have instructed the returning officers about the possibility of nominations pouring in on from Friday. The opposition DMK is also to start the nomination process from Friday and the other allies of the AIADMK are also to submit their papers.

Meanwhile, the AMMK which will be releasing its party manifesto on Friday has advised the candidates to file their nominations by next week. The second list of AMMK is likely in a couple of days and some of them will file their nominations on March 26, AMMK sources said.

The dates for filing nominations for Tamil Nadu commenced on March 19 and will go on till March 26. Scrutiny of the nominations will be carried out on March 27 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is on March 29. Election will be conducted in a single phase in the state on April 18.
