The incident happened on Saturday night on a Chennai-bound flight from Mumbai which took off at 10.55 pm and landed in Chennai at 12.50 am, the police said.

The woman from Madipakkam had her child with her and was returning to the city after visiting her husband, a techie employed in Mumbai. The police quoted the woman as saying that the man watched porn on his mobile phone in such a manner that it was visible to her. “Even if she tried to avoid him, the man turned the phone to make it visible to her,” the police said.

The woman reportedly grew restless and complained to the air hostess about him. But the man refused to change his seat as he claimed that he did not do anything wrong. Later, the captain of the flight had to intervene and shift the woman to another seat.

The captain also informed the Air Traffic Controller at the Chennai airport about the incident and CISF personnel, who were alerted, secured the man and handed him over to the Airport police station.

The woman, who was asked to return to the station on Sunday morning, allegedly refused and asked the police to send him off with a stern warning. The police said that the businessman also volunteered to apologise. With no other option, the police had to let him off on the condition that he would be summoned if the woman lodges a complaint in future.
